Resume

Jim Hawkins, a young boy who lives with his parents and he helps his father run an inn. One day, an old sailor entered the inn. He was tall and strong. The sailor was known as Captain Billy Bones and when he entered the inn, he took a sailor's chest with him. Jim was afraid of him. One morning, a shabby man with two missing fingers visited the inn. The man named Black Dog, he came to look for Captain Bones. The Captain was very surprised by the arrival of the Black Dog and they quarreled. Jim noticed Captain Bones was furious, while Black Dog left Admiral Benbow with a bit of a run. Not long since the arrival of Black Dog, a week later, returns a blind man who is also looking for Captain Bones. When they met, fighting broke out again and when the blind man left the inn, Captain Bones fell and died of a stroke.

After the Captain's death, Jim and his mother opened their sailor's chest and found some money and a treasure map. This map is what brought Jim along with some of his friends, a doctor, judge and former ship captain decided to set sail in search of the treasure island. Jim was very excited because this was his first trip across the ocean, but it turned out to be not as smooth as he had imagined. One day, on the boat Jim fell asleep in a barrel. He woke up when he heard some people talking nearby. These people didn't realize Jim was nearby, but Jim could hear very clearly what they were talking about and how surprised he was to learn that the men were plotting a rebellion. They plan to kill Jim and the rest of the ship so they can have the treasure. Jim had just found out about the evil plans of several people he considered friends, but he couldn't move, he was afraid that his whereabouts would be known.

My Opinion

I rarely read an adventure book, but this one is so good. The story was packed in a good way, the sentences also very easy to understand so I really recommend this book for you guys who love to learn english. My favorite character is Dr. Livesy, because among the characters, he's the one who I think really take care of Jim. I think that's all from me, and you can read the book by click the link down below. Thank you! <3

How To Help Limit Climate Change?

English Task

by Fatharani Fathin (20) and Raissa Nabila Sofyaniputri (34)

XII SCIENCE 1

 What’s climate change?

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, such as through variations in the solar cycle. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. Burning fossil fuels generates greenhouse gas emissions that act like a blanket wrapped around the Earth, trapping the sun’s heat and raising temperatures.

Source: https://www.un.org/en/climatechange/what-is-climate-change

What do you think we should do to help limit climate change?

1. Eat less meat and dairy

Avoiding meat and dairy products is one of the biggest ways to reduce your environmental impact on the planet. Studies suggest that a high-fibre, plant-based diet is also better for your health - so it can be a win-win.Eat fewer or smaller portions of meat, especially red meat, which has the largest environmental impact, and reduce dairy products or switch them for non-dairy alternatives .

2. Cut back on flying

If you need to fly for work, consider using video-conferencing instead. For trips in the same country or continent, take the train or explore options using an electric car. When flying is unavoidable, pay a little extra for carbon offsetting. For leisure trips, choose nearby destinations, and fly economy – on average, a passenger in business class has a carbon footprint three times higher than someone in economy.

3.Reduce your energy use, and bills

Small changes to your behaviour at home will help you use less energy, cutting your carbon footprint and your energy bills: Put on an extra layer and turn down the heating a degree or two,Turn off lights and appliances when you don’t need them, Replace light bulbs with LEDs or other low-energy lights. Make simple changes to how you use hot water, like buying a water-efficient shower head.

4. Respect and protect green spaces

Create your own green space. Add pot plants to your window sill or balcony, and if you have your own outdoor space, don't replace the grass with paving or artificial turf.

5. Leave the car at home

Instead of getting in the car, walk or cycle – and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits, and the money saved. For longer journeys, use public transport, or try car sharing schemes.

6. Cut consumption – and waste

Try to minimise waste

a. Repair and reuse. Give unwanted items a new life by donating them to charity or selling them on.

b. Avoid wasting food. Let brands know if you think they are using too much packaging – some will take customer feedback seriously

Essay Task - XII SCIENCE 1

Name: Kevin Ardian & Raissa Nabila

Class: XII SCIENCE 1

Theme: Do You Think Social Media is Good for Teenager

Social media is any digital tool that allows users to quickly create and share content with the public. Social media encompasses a wide range of websites and apps. Some, like Twitter, specialize in sharing links and short written messages. Others, like Instagram and TikTok, are built to optimize the sharing of photos and videos.

Anyone with internet access can sign up for a social media account. They can use that account to share whatever content they choose to, and the content they share reaches anyone who visits their page or profile.

In this generation, mostly teenagers are already using social media as a platform to socialize with others from all parts of the world. Social media allows teens to create online identities, communicate with others and build social networks. However, social media use can also negatively affect teens, distracting them, disrupting their sleep, and exposing them to bullying, rumor spreading, unrealistic views of other people's lives and peer pressure.

Because of teens impulsive natures, experts suggest that teens who post content on social media are at risk of sharing intimate photos or highly personal stories. This can result in teens being bullied, harassed or even blackmailed. Teens often create posts without considering these consequences or privacy concerns.

To sum up, we should be careful on using social media especially for teenagers. Parental guidance is really needed, so parents can monitor what their kids are doing.

Film Review : Nicos Weg - Deutsch lernen (A1)

  • ততততততততততততততততততততততততততততততততততততততত

Review by: Raissa Nabila S (34)

XI MIPA 1

Nicos Weg is about a Spanish young man named Nico who travels to Germany to see his aunt. But he ends up losing his bag (with his passport, phone, and aunt's address) at the airport, but he's helped by a little girl and her aunt. And from there, his journey is begin. Actually the story is spans A1-B1 with 19 units per level and 4 parts per unit. But what I watched is the A1 unit  and already become a pack of film. This film is really focus on how Nico improve his German skill by learning day by day.

This film is really perfect for exercise our German skill, but there's some minor quirks and unrealistic elements that I feel (e.g Nico learns German way too quickly and his accent when speaking is already good 0_o, probably because the actor is German), but it's well done overall. The story is in German (with German subtitles available and of course other languages too!). Therefore, I would recommend knowing a little German before picking up Nicos Weg so that you'll know the basic one and you can try to guess and understand what the dialogue means.

Review: For me, learning language is really fun. Especially I found that learning language by watching movies is really efficient. Because you can learning the sentences and there's a gesture + how to pronoun it right. For the first time I saw the duration of film, I shocked and thinking that it'll be boring because its FULL IN DEUTSCH and I still a beginner A1 Studentin. But time passes so fast, I can finish watching this good film. And I got more knowledge like how to asking question. And dont worry if u think u'll be confuse while watching, because this film also include what we have learn on 10th grade (e.g how to greet someone, how to read the clock, and counting number). My favorite part of the film is when Nico babysitting Emma and attend a party and meet his new friends that come from different country, but they're already good speaking in Deutsch.

Rating: 8 / 10

That's all that I can say about the film, sorry if its to0 short because I more suggest you to watch it by yourself😍

My Goal, My Ambition

Well it's been a long time since I post something on this blog. I think I should introduce myself again, so my name is Raissa Nabila Sofyaniputri and now I'm in 11th grade. Wooww time flies so fast, right?

Today I'll tell about what I want in my future, such as my passion and any activities I do. Since I was little, my dream was going to be a doctor. Why? It's a simple reason, if you ask the kids on my time they probably want to be an astronaut or doctor or EVEN a president. We always dream high as we could, but day by day and I start to grow up. I go to junior high school, entering a new world that I never think before. And I start to believe in reality. Maybe, studying in college as Medical student is too hard for me. Seeing that I'm not the person who like to read a thick book. And the journey is so long to wait.

And currently, as a 11th grader I was really close to the gate of college student life. I already attend some university open house and when Edu Passion is held. I still have interest on Biology, but now it isnt about "medical" but Marine Biology. And yeah, now I really want to go to ITB as Oceanography student. The reason why I jump into the "ocean" is because I really enjoy the sea, especially when I go snorkeling and diving. My favorite spot is Gili Trawangan, because it's my first experience as 3th grader in elementary school who really brave to feeding fish in the sea. I still dont know what I want to be when I already a Oceanography undergraduate, maybe working on Indonesian Agency for Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics or even a Minister of Marine and Fisheries. Aamiin, just pray for the best!

And the way to achieve my goals is definitely studying with passion. Although I'm not that genius, but I will working hard as could as I can. From now on, I starting to read some articles about marine and stuff like that. Maybe, beside being a student I'll start my own Youtube Channel and making vlogs when I was travelling especially when I'm on research to the sea with other friends. And also I want to be active when I was on College, like being in a college organization or angklung extracurricular and doing a band with friends.

So that's all from me, thank you for check out my blog. See u later, bye!👋

Indonesia's Financial Crisis in 1998

By: Hayfa Felicia T.W (21) & Raissa Nabila S (33)
X Science 1

Since the independence of Indonesia till now, Indonesia has gone through several phases. One of which is the reign of Soeharto. Under his government, the economy of Indonesia is grew fast. But despite his success, it ended with the financial crisis in Indonesia in 1998. The crisis that hit Indonesia in 1997 -1998 is not the first crisis faced by Indonesia. However, the crisis is quite severe and it is caused by some cases in Indonesia. There are some causes of financial crisis in Indonesia.

First reason is the weakening Indonesian economic growth, which was caused by American currency. This reason emerged in the trade world, in which the prises of imported goods rose up. According to Tarmidi (1999, vol.4 no.1). Second reason is private foreign debt. According to (Investopedia, 2013). The third reason is the implementation of policies that are not carried out continously.  According to Tarmidi (1999, vol.4).

The last reason is a lot of corruption that happen in Indonesia. According to Investopedia (2017) “Corruption is dishonest behavior by those in positions of power, such as managers or government officials”. Corruption can include giving or accepting bribes or inappropriate gifts, double dealing, manipulating elections, diverting funds, laundering money and defrauding investors. So, corruption is an action baneful to many parties. According to the PBB report, state assets stolen by Suharto and his family is estimated at 15 billion dollars to 35 billion US dollars. The figure was higher than theft committed by the Philippine dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, which ranges from 5 billion to 10 billion US dollars. As the result is corruption has not been completely eradicated and even now impressed added increased. Indonesia economic crisis that  accured in the initial 1998 had a big impact on the country and its people. The crisis was indicated, mostly by the inflation rate which was high enough.

Japanese Folktale : Little Peachling

Many hundred years ago there lived an honest old woodcutter and his wife. One fine morning the old man went off to the hills with his billhook, to gather a faggot of sticks, while his wife went down to the river to wash the dirty clothes. When she came to the river, she saw a peach floating down the stream; so she picked it up, and carried it home with her, thinking to give it to her husband to eat when he should come in.

The old man soon came down from the hills, and the good wife set the peach before him, when, just as she was inviting him to eat it, the fruit split in two, and a little puling baby was born into the world. So the old couple took the babe, and brought it up as their own; and, because it had been born in a peach, they called it Momotaro, or Little Peachling.

By degrees Little Peachling grew up to be strong and brave, and at last one day he said to his old foster parents, "I am going to the ogres' island to carry off the riches that they have stored up there. Pray, then, make me some millet dumplings for my journey."

So the old folks ground the millet, and made the dumplings for him; and Little Peachling, after taking an affectionate leave of them, cheerfully set out on his travels.

As he was journeying on, he fell in with a monkey, who gibbered at him, and said: "Kia! kia! kia! where are you off to, Little Peachling?"

"I'm going to the ogres' island, to carry off their treasure," answered Little Peachling.

"What are you carrying at your girdle?"

"I'm carrying the very best millet dumplings in all Japan."

"If you'll give me one, I will go with you," said the monkey.

So Little Peachling gave one of his dumplings to the monkey, who received it and followed him. When he had gone a little further, he heard a pheasant calling: "Ken! ken! ken! where are you off to, Master Peachling?"

Little Peachling answered as before; and the pheasant, having begged and obtained a millet dumpling, entered his service, and followed him.

A little while after this, they met a dog, who cried: "Bow! wow! wow! whither away, Master Peachling?"

"I'm going off to the ogres' island, to carry off their treasure."

"If you will give me one of those nice millet dumplings of yours, I will go with you," said the dog.

"With all my heart," said Little Peachling. So he went on his way, with the monkey, the pheasant, and the dog following after him.

When they got to the ogres' island, the pheasant flew over the castle gate, and the monkey clambered over the castle wall, while Little Peachling, leading the dog, forced in the gate, and got into the castle. Then they did battle with the ogres, and put them to flight, and took their king prisoner. So all the ogres did homage to Little Peachling, and brought out the treasures which they had laid up. There were caps and coats that made their wearers invisible, jewels which governed the ebb and flow of the tide, coral, musk, emeralds, amber, and tortoise shell, besides gold and silver. All these were laid before Little Peachling by the conquered ogres.

So Little Peachling went home laden with riches, and maintained his foster parents in peace and plenty for the remainder of their lives.

My Journey As Author

Hello everyone, long time no see. Now i'm here to tell you little bit of my story/journey as an author. Maybe all of you will expect that i will like to be a singer because i like to sing, but yeah i like it just for my hobby. Actually being author is just my "hooby" too. Because i like to imagine a lot of drama that i'll write in my stories. Okie dokey let's start it with bismillah, bismillahirahmannirahim.

So back on 2016, i found a app called "Wattpad".

In there you can read thousands of e-books with different genre that you can choose. I do read a lot of books, and i get inspired one day. "Why I didn't write my own book?". From that day, i start to practice my writing skill. My first book was super cringe, you can even say it cringe just by it's title lol. Okay, because i'm a nice person i will spill the tea about the title. So the title is, "Sedot WC" ........ idk why i choose that ugly title. But alhamdulillah, the response from readers is not that bad. They even say that the title is so unique and makes people curios about the storyline. So basically, it's a love story about girl who meet her soulmate that work as sedot wc worker. OMG I DO REGRET WHY I MAKE THAT KIND OF STORYLINE AAAAA. Okay past is past, i can't change it. And i write that when i was 6th grader, still too young to be a charismatic author lol. Okay let's continue!

Day by day, my writing skill got better. And i start make a book about love-hate relationship and it gets hype by a lot of people. The readers begin to multiple, and from that i got a chance to have collaboration with one of famous kpop writer that i like. Her name is Jaja, and now we're bestfriend. Although we do ldr between Bandung - Makassar, we still have a good communication. I'm happy that i can do my hobby and i hope Wattpad will give us a salary for being a loyal author (lol i'm just kidding).

Okay that's all for me, i hope this will be a useful information. See you next time guys, bye! <3

Shih Tzu

A Shih Tzu (meaning "lion dog"), is a toy dog breed, weighing from 4 to 7.25 kilograms (9–16 lb) when fully grown. The breed originated on the Tibetan Plateau and was developed in China.

The Shih Tzu is a sturdy little dog with a short muzzle and large dark eyes. They have a soft and long double coat. Although sometimes long, a Shih Tzu will not always have extremely lengthy hair like the pekingese (but with short legs). Some of them have more short, curly hair. This is purely a choice made by the owners. A Shih Tzu should stand no more than 26.7 cm at the withers and with an ideal weight of 4.5 to 7.3 kg. Floppy ears are covered with long fur, and the heavily furred tail is carried curled over the back. The coat may be of any color, though white and with blazes of grey are frequently seen. A very noticeable feature is the underbite, which is required in the breed standard.
The traditional long silky coat, which tends to reach the floor, requires daily brushing to avoid tangles. Because of their long coat and fast-growing hair, regular grooming is necessary, which may be expensive and should be taken into account when considering adopting one of this breed. Often, the coat is clipped short to simplify care, but the coat still requires daily brushing. For conformation showing, the coat must be left in its natural state, though trimming for neatness around the feet and anus is allowed. The shorter cut is typically called a "puppy cut" or a "teddy bear cut" when the puppy cut is accompanied by a fuller, rounder face, resembling a cute stuffed animal.

Although an individual Shih Tzu's temperament varies from dog to dog, the breed has a personality and temperament that is loyal, affectionate, outgoing, cute, and alert. They tend to be possessive around other dogs. Training and proper socializing must start at a young age for the Shih Tzu to obey basic commands, for the Shih Tzu is prone to stubbornness when it comes to training. While the Shih Tzu is an excellent watchdog because of its alert and active nature, it was not specifically bred for this purpose. Unlike the Lhasa Apso, which was bred to be a sentinel dog that enjoys high perches and is wary of strangers, the Shih Tzu prefers to be close to its companions and will often offer strangers its affection. Because of its friendly nature, the Shih Tzu tends to interact well with other dogs and with children and adults. They do well with singles, couples, and families with older children. They may be a little temperamental with hyper or larger breeds, but generally, the Shih Tzu gets along well with other pets. They are generally well behaved and suitable for families.

The Shih Tzu comes in a range of colours that include various shades of gold, white, brown, and black. Other colours include black mask gold, black and white, solid black, solid liver, liver and white, brindle, white, red and white, and grey and white. Thus, when two Shih Tzu mate, there is a possibility that their offspring's coat will be similar to the sire's color, dam's color, tricolor, or a mix of both parents' color in one classification. An interesting point (and often a point of confusion) is that while the coat color of those with black pigmented skin (nose, lips, pads, also referred to as "leather") is determined by the color of the coat itself; the coat color on dogs with either liver or blue pigment is categorized by the color of the pigment. Thus, a parti colored (white and another shade) Shih Tzu with blue pigment is a "blue and white" regardless of the tint of the hair which might very well appear similar to a gold and white or other colors. The same principle applies to solid blue, silver, and silver and white. Sometimes you might see dark brown pigments near the shoulders and between the armpits.
